In the past 24 hours: I went to the research center without actually reading the related debate texts. I gave my opinion with no theoretical arguments to back it up. I cited Comte without referring to what am I referring to. I showed a friend a paper I wrote in cringe worthy non-standard formatting. I let someone borrow my own written study notes, but not before I put it in font 14, 2.0 spacing just to get 15 pages in. I mixed Frankfurt School papers with Sophist papers, and did not contextualize it. I went to a coworker's lecture to ask critical thinking questions just to fuck with him.

Forgive me Father, as for I have sinned.

Ok.

I finally managed to compress a good number (however, not all to in the slightest) of my favorite overall rock songs into a playlist. I always see posts about songs recommendations and people have asked me for them a few times now, so I decided to post here a few.
In case you want to listen to something new, get into a new band, so on, so on, here they are:

Here I give you 240 songs. )

Well, there you go. I watered it down a little or else it would be way longer than it already is. I can do others, with R&B and such, so let me know.

Kyungsoo, as he expressed throughout the week, will be playing today, May 8th, at the Woodstock bar with a few friends from Goyang. There will be two guitarists, a drummer, one at a keyboard, and one bassist. Kyungsoo will be singing and playing the guitar, however him and the other guitarist will be switching between who is singing for tone, pitch and fitting purposes. The other musicians will sing as back vocals depending on the song. Kyungsoo has tweaked the songs that needed tweaking to fit his own more melodic vocal range (interesting to watch if you aren't familiar with his voice, so you can imagine the songs in your head if you so wish to). The songs he sang will be on italics on the list.

As soon as they hit the stage, the other guitarist will introduce them separately and allow them to display a little of individual solos. Kyungsoo's solo of choice is his to-go, Eruption.

Dressed as such, playing his Washburn 1992.

The playlist goes as follows:
Smoke On The Water - Deep Purple
Bon Jovi - You Give Love a Bad Name
Whitesnake - Here I Go Again
Guns n' Roses - Paradise City
Muse - Knights of Cydonia
Linkin Park - Breaking the Habit
Cake - Never There
Pearl Jam - Even Flow
R.E.M. - Losing My Religion
Audioslave - I Am The Highway
Led Zeppelin - Stairway To Heaven
Dire Straits - Sultans of Swing
Red Hot Chilli Peppers - Snow
Queen - Who Wants to Live Forever

Kyungsoo on a stage sort of sways (a dance attempt?), moves around a lot. He is a very energetic musician, very expressive performer. He is also having tons of fun, it is noticeable.

The blast below is for the after gig, for drinks, bar chatting, etc.

One of my favorite things in PolSci are the Social Contract authors and their theories. Basically, they argue about the origins of legitimacy of political authority and moral norms. We, the people, give up some rights to a government or authority to receive/preserve social order. How were people before this happened, called the state of nature? Why did this happen? What is in human nature? Stay tuned. I will break this down into the authors I personally find the most interesting.
The Academic Word Vomit )
The questions I have here are: which of these come closer to your particular vision? What is your own theory on these topics? Which do you think is bullshit? Which is the most interesting to you?

P.S.: Have in mind that I only watered everything down for a post that is easy to read. If you are interested and want to read about it in detail, you may find these interesting. Of course there are other relevant authors as well.

As previously stated in this post, today is a exhibition of a few Studio Ghibli movies, with plenty of street food and drinks to choose from. Here is the schedule:
  • Spirited Away.
  • From 7:20pm to 9:25pm.
  • Princess Mononoke.
  • From 9:30pm to 11:45pm.
  • My Neighbour Totoro.
  • From 11:50pm to 1:18am.
  • Howl's Moving Castle.
  • from 1:25am to 3:25am.
The movie will be screened on a wall from the basement by a projector and I made sure to make the most space for people to sit, both on the floor and on the couches. There will be blankets and for use (for the love of everything holy, be careful with them), but you are more than welcome to bring your own. The food will be on a table in the basement, so will be the drinks and I will put more as they end.

I have also encountered a few drinking games for the movies stated, so I will have the rules on a board on the wall for those willing to play. Please, do not die in the DTD household. 1 2 3 4

If the movies are not of interest, the other areas of the DTD house will be open for hanging out in.

For this week's Thirsty Thursday, we will make something rather different than usual.
We will have a movie night for Studio Ghibli, with Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke, My Neighbour Totoro and Howl's Moving Castle.

As for food, I will be making an extensive variety of both Japanese and Korean street food.
This list consists of ddeokbokki, cup chicken, bungeoppang, tornado potato, takoyaki, shioyaki, yakitori and daigaku imo.

There will also be popcorn, both salty and buttery and sweet. There will also be vanilla, chocolate and strawberry icecream with konpeito as a topping.

Drink wise, there will be beer, sake bombs, cuba libres and shots available.

Now, for the more important stuff. Please, do donate to help us continue to bring more quality events for you. Thanks to the previous donations, I am being able to afford the expenses of this edition of TT, so thank you for all who donate for your support.
The donation box will be at sight at all times in the main living room. The rules are still the same and can be found here in case you are not familiar with them.

The movies will happen in the basement, however one is free to roam around both the main and the second floor living room if they so wish to.

I will see you tomorrow.

(( The event will start at 7pm EST, the blast button will be on the tomorrow's event post.))

"PostSecret is an ongoing community art project where people mail in their secrets anonymously on one side of a postcard."

I have been revisiting this old friend lately. Some of the secrets are funny, some are a little disturbing, some are sad, but overall, all very interesting.

Would you ever tell a stranger your secrets?

The House )

Of today, we will be offering drinks of the distilled kind, or whisky, vodka, brandy and rum. For food, we have burritos.
Musicians who wish to bring their own instruments (at your own risk) are more than welcome to.
I'll see you soon.

( The blast today will be on a little earlier than usual, 6pm EST.)

It's the first Thirsty Thursday of the year, happy new years, everyone.
Rules of the house and the house structure can be found here.
For drinks, we will be offering this winter punch and as per usual, beer.
The food will be something different this time. We'll be making indoors S'mores.

Ingredients will be laid out if you wish to make your own combination, including:
Nutella, Graham Crackers, marshmallows (obviously), chocolate (milk, white, dark), dulce de leche, peanut butter, fruits, cookies and Oreos.
A new enormous batch will be out every 40 minutes and if you are not DTD, please, do not come near the stove.

As the result of the poll dictated, the karaoke machine can be found in the basement. Please, do not enter the rooms in there, they are currently occupied by our pledges.

Now, on to something important. We need the $$ to be able to continue making these events, so the donation box will be in the Main Living Room, near the door. It's not obligatory that you do donate if you come, but if you would like TT to continue as a quality weekly event, you're more than welcome to.

(( As per usual, the blast stars at 8PM EST. ))

Per usual, there's beer, this time specifically we'll be having shots of tequila, vodka and jager.
You are free to bring your own drinks as well.
Food tonight is pizza.
Donation box is right at the entrance.

The karaoke machine makes a comeback in the basement.
I'll have my amplifiers in the main room in case anyone feels like making music with their own bare hands.
Freshmen are more than welcome and very encouraged to attend.

(( Yes, I know it's Thanksgiving and not everyone can attend, but those who are not/don't celebrate it, let's have fun.))

I know people may not be interested in reading comics, but even so, I know sometimes curiosity arrives. I found this great Youtube channel that explains the comics. It is very throughout, not overly detailed but still gives it a proper explanation.

I separated a few that I quite enjoy.

The House of M. (A reality in which everyone's deep wishes become true.)
The Infinity Gems. (What they are, since they show up in the movies, thought it would be interesting.)
The Prelude for Age of Ultron & The Vision
Who Is Jessica Jones? (In the light of the new Netflix Series.)
Daredevil Explained. (Because duh.)
Thanos. (Because he shows up a lot, and it doesn't explain who the hell he is in the cinematic universe.)
The Walking Dead: Comics vs TV Shows. (For the curiosity.)

Let me know if there's anything you're curious about in the Marvel Universe so I can either explain or find something that can.
thinkoutloud: ("Nothing to fear.")

Information about the drinks we will present is over here.
Information of how the house is in the inside and rules can be found here.

However, this time, we are doing things a little differently from what we were doing before.
The cocktails will be made by a hired bartender, therefore, we will charge (cheapily) for the cocktails we so presented.
As usual, there's also beer for which count on donations, cashbox is locked on the table in the Main Room living room.
Each cocktail will be priced on ₩5800 (roughly 5 American dollars).
For food, we will have Shawarma.

Drinks will be served in the basement, there will also be a karaoke machine ready to use in the basement.

(( Blast will be on at 7PM EST or so.))
